When a 24-year-old Kim reluctantly accompanied a friend with a Groupon to a Pole class, the last thing she expected was to fall in love with the aerial arts. However, despite never having studied gymnastics, dancing, or even played sports as a child, Kim knew by the end of that first class what she wanted to do. Over the next few years, she trained in studios across the United States and eventually became a Pole Fitness Alliance (PFA)-certified instructor. She joined the Moveir staff in January 2017 and teaches all levels of Pole Sport several times a week.
Kim actively continues her own training in the Circus Arts, including Lyra (aerial hoop), aerial silks, trapeze, acrobatics, etc., and performs throughout Michigan and across the U.S. She is also a winning presence on the regional and national competitive circuit, capturing 1st Place in Lyra at the North East Aerial Arts Championship in 2015 and 2nd Place in the US Nationals Pole Championship in 2016.
As an instructor, Kim strives to make Pole accessible to everyone, showing by her own example that even an adult with no dance or gymnastics background can discover a genuine passion for movement through Pole Sport.
When she’s not gracefully spinning and gliding through the air, Kim enjoys her time as a member of the West Michigan bonsai society (she also has a Masters’ degree in Chinese!) and her work as a marketing manager.
